Dues support club activities but we try to keep our expenses low and make our activities as open to the public and cost free as possible. We want you to spend your money on robot parts. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings or join our e-mail discussion group without becoming a paid member..
Dues are $10 per calendar year for an individual or family.
Dues are due on or before the first meeting of the year. Current members who fail to pay by the March meeting are considered delinquent, and their membership will be terminated.
When you become an official member of the club, you get the following benefits:
- You get an official club name badge
- You can vote in club elections
- You will have access to club property, such as loaner robots
- You can participate in certain drawings or giveaways that might be restricted to club members
- You can represent the club at public functions, such as Maker Faire or the Robot Block Party
- You can be listed on the public Robot Builders Page. See Member Page Submission Instructions
You have three ways of paying $10 dues:
- Send to HBRC using PayPal (use “sending to a friend” option)
- Write a check to “HomeBrew Robotics Club” and give it to the club treasurer (Dan Tuchler 2019/2020)
- Pay cash directly to the club treasurer, Dan Tuchler, Please attach a paper note with your name on it if possible.
PayPal Instructions
You must follow these instructions to ensure that the club is not charged a fee by PayPal:
- Have or create a PayPal account, log in to PayPal.
- Select “Tools / Send Money” from the menus
- Enter “treasurer@hbrobotics.org” and click Next
- Enter $10.00
- This is a key step – click “change” and select “sending to a friend”. Do NOT select ‘paying for an item or service” (If you don’t do this an extra billing of $0.60 is involved and a pain for everyone involved).
- Add “XXXX Dues” in the note field (e.g. 2022 Dues). Also add the names of all family members for extra badges. Click Continue.
- If it’s as linked bank account, the fee is $0.00, click “Send Money Now.”
- If it’s a linked credit card, PayPal will add a small amount to cover PayPal fees (typically $0.59).
- If it’s a credit card and you mistakenly choose “Item or service” you will see a $0.00 fee but HBRC will get charged a fee and as mentioned this gets complicated for all of us with an extra $0.60 fee back to you.
Your contributions, financial and non-financial, enable the HomeBrew Robotics Club to be one of the most influential supporters of grass roots robotics development in the world. Many thanks in advance for your support!
